Digital Transformation & Modernisation

Modernise the systems that hold your business back.

We move legacy applications to the cloud, break monoliths into services where it helps and replace manual processes with digital workflows. Work is planned in stages, so the business keeps running while the systems change underneath it.

The problem

Why modernisation programmes stall.

01

Legacy systems nobody wants to touch

Core applications run on old platforms that few people understand, so every change is slow and risky.

02

Migrations that stall halfway

Moves to the cloud start with energy, then stop when the hard applications are reached, leaving two estates to pay for.

03

A monolith that slows every team

One large codebase means one release train, and a change in one area can break something unrelated.

04

Work still done on spreadsheets

Approvals, reconciliations and hand-offs happen over email and spreadsheets, with errors and no audit trail.

What we deliver

Modernisation in stages you can see.

We pick the changes that matter most to the business and deliver them one stage at a time.

01

Cloud migration

Moving applications and data to AWS, Azure or GCP, choosing for each one whether to rehost, replatform or rebuild.

  • Migration
  • Rehost
  • Replatform
02

Monolith to services

Splitting out the parts of a monolith that change most or scale differently, without a risky full rewrite.

  • Microservices
  • Strangler pattern
  • APIs
03

Legacy replacement

Replacing ageing systems with modern applications or proven products, with data moved and checked carefully.

  • Legacy
  • Data migration
  • Cutover
04

Manual processes to digital workflows

Turning email and spreadsheet processes into workflows with clear steps, approvals and records.

  • Workflows
  • Automation
  • Approvals
05

Data and integration

APIs and event streams that connect old and new systems while they run side by side.

  • Integration
  • Events
  • APIs
06

Change and adoption

Training, documentation and support so people actually use the new systems.

  • Training
  • Adoption
  • Documentation

How we deliver

From assessment to modern systems in use.

Each stage delivers something that works, rather than waiting for one big cutover.

Always included

  • A named service manager and a clear escalation matrix
  • A monthly service review with SLA reporting
  • Runbooks and documentation that you own
  • Access through your SSO with audit trails, and an NDA and DPA as standard

Typical tools

  • AWS
  • Azure
  • GCP
  • Kubernetes
  • Terraform
  • Kafka
  • Camunda
  • n8n
01
Weeks 1 to 2

Assess

We review your applications, processes and constraints.

  • Inventory of applications, data and integrations
  • Business priorities and risks for each system
  • A recommended path for each application
02
Weeks 2 to 6

Transition

We plan the stages and prepare the ground.

  • Target architecture and landing zone agreed
  • Migration and cutover plan for the first stage
  • Runbooks and rollback plans written
03
Months 2 to 3

Stabilise

The first systems move and run reliably in their new home.

  • First applications or workflows live
  • Monitoring and support in place from day one
  • Old and new systems kept in sync during cutover
04
Ongoing

Optimise

We continue stage by stage and retire what is no longer needed.

  • Next stages delivered against the roadmap
  • Legacy systems and costs retired
  • Monthly review of progress and risks

FAQ

Questions we hear a lot.

Do we have to rewrite everything?
No. Most applications can be moved or improved without a full rewrite. We look at each one and recommend whether to rehost, replatform, rebuild, replace or retire it, based on business value and risk.
How do you keep the business running during migration?
We move in stages, run old and new systems side by side where needed and plan every cutover with a tested way back. Risky changes are scheduled in agreed windows.
Can you help with processes, not just systems?
Yes. Many of the biggest gains come from replacing email and spreadsheet processes with clear digital workflows. We map the process with the people who run it before we build anything.
Which engagement model suits modernisation?
On-demand pods are often the starting point for a defined migration or rebuild, billed per sprint. Co-managed suits longer programmes where our engineers work alongside your teams. Fully managed suits clients who want us to run the modernised systems afterwards against agreed SLAs.
Who owns what we build?
You do. Code, infrastructure and documentation live in your repositories and accounts, and you own 100% of the IP once invoices are settled.
