AI Readiness Assessment

Know where AI will pay off before you spend on it.

In about two weeks, for a fixed fee, we find the AI use cases worth doing in your business and check whether your data, systems and people are ready for them. You leave with a ranked shortlist, a business case for the first one and a roadmap your leadership can sign off.

The problem

Why AI programmes so often start in the wrong place.

01

A long list and no priorities

Every team has an AI idea. Nobody has compared them on value, effort and risk, so the loudest one wins.

02

Data nobody has checked

A use case looks simple until someone finds the data is spread across five systems, half of it incomplete.

03

Pilots with no business case

A proof of concept gets built because the technology is interesting, then stalls because nobody agreed what it should change.

04

Risk raised too late

Legal, security or compliance see the project for the first time a week before launch and stop it.

What we assess

Everything you need to decide what to build first.

We look at the business, the data and the people together, because a use case only works when all three are ready.

01

Use-case discovery and ranking

Workshops with business and operations teams to collect use cases, then a ranking on value, feasibility and risk.

  • Workshops
  • Value scoring
  • Shortlist
02

Data and systems review

We check where the data for each shortlisted use case lives, how good it is and how the systems around it connect.

  • Data quality
  • Source systems
  • Integration
03

Skills and operating model

Who will own, run and use the AI once it is live, and what skills or roles are missing today.

  • Ownership
  • Skills gaps
  • Operating model
04

Risk and governance check

A first look at privacy, security, regulatory and model risk for each use case, so blockers surface now.

  • DPDP Act
  • EU AI Act
  • Data privacy
05

Business case

For the top use case: the metric it should move, how we will measure it, the costs involved and what success looks like.

  • One metric
  • Costs
  • Measurement
06

Roadmap

A sequenced plan for the first use cases, with dependencies, owners and the next decision point for leadership.

  • Owners
  • Decision points

FAQ

Questions we hear a lot.

What is an AI readiness assessment?
It is a short, structured review of whether your business is ready to use AI well. We look at which use cases are worth doing, whether the data and systems behind them are good enough, who will own and use the result, and what risks need handling. The output is a ranked shortlist, a business case and a roadmap, not a maturity score on a slide.
How long does an AI readiness assessment take and how is it priced?
Typically about two weeks, for a fixed fee agreed in writing before we start. The fee depends on how many teams and systems are in scope. We will tell you upfront, and there are no extra charges for the readout or the roadmap.
What do we need to prepare?
Access to the people who own the main business processes, the data and the systems, usually a few hours each across the two weeks. Sample data or read access to the relevant sources helps, and so does anything you already have: past pilots, vendor proposals or an AI policy. We sign an NDA before we see anything.
What happens if the assessment says we are not ready?
Then you have saved the cost of a pilot that would have stalled. The roadmap will say what to fix first, for example a data source to clean up or an owner to appoint, and which use cases can still go ahead while that work happens. Most companies have at least one use case they can start on.
Do we have to use Sunday Labs to build what the roadmap recommends?
No. The business case and roadmap are yours, written so any capable team can act on them. Many clients do move on to a production pilot with us, because the same people who did the assessment can start straight away, but there is no obligation.
